Workforce Investment Act: Michael Jemison

Michael worked as a construction worker, but had been unemployed for almost two years. In his job search, Michael saw job opportunities as a CDL driver, but lacked the required Class B license.

Michael heard about the One-Stop CTWorks Work Force Investment Training program through a friend. He completed the WIA Portfolio, assessments and was approved funding to attend the AllState Commercial Driver Training School, receiving a certificate and license in May, 2011.

Client has then found two new job opportunities. Client is currently employed at Sunrise Senior living as a Driver twenty hours a week @ $16.00 an hour. He is also employed at Planned Lifestyles Services Inc. full time position as a Front Desk Customer Service @$11.50 an hour. Michael said he has also had to turn down a third job opportunity due to his working schedule. He is very happy and please to be employed and very appreciative of the WIA program for assisting him in getting his CDL license B.
