Congratulations to Sandy Vining of Career Resources” Community Network Center on becoming an Assister with the state’s new Health Insurance Exchange.
From her spot at the Center in the southwestern Connecticut One Stop, Sandy helps people connect with needed services every day. Her new role as a Health Care Navigator will give her detailed knowledge of the state’s new Health Insurance Exchange, which will offer residents an affordable array of health insurance plans.
Sandy is one of many Assisters throughout the Bridgeport community and the state to be awarded grants by the state’s Office of Health Care Access. She’s shown here with Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman at the program’s kickoff event.
The system is being rolled out in response to the new federal health care law, requiring all residents to have health insurance in 2014 or pay a fine. Connecticut is one of several states opting to create its own Exchange, an on-line Marketplace to help people compare options, improve care and lower costs. It will begin operations in October and Sandy and other Assisters are going through training now.
