CAREER COACH

A fully-equipped mobile technology lab assisting businesses with recruitment and training via a mobile “One Stop” for jobseekers throughout Connecticut.

CAREER CONNECT HEALTHCARE PROGRAM

The Healthcare Career Connect program is a 10-week Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) training, providing individuals with soft-skills, case management, and full-time employment into high quality, in-demand jobs in the healthcare field throughout the state.

This initiative is funded through the federal pandemic relief fund.

DIGITAL LITERACY

Digital Literacy instructors utilize online courses from Microsoft and GCFLearnFree to assist individuals to achieve their goals and overcome technological barriers.

EVERYONE WORKS

Open to any jobseeker with disabilities, aged 18 or older, living, within the southwest region of Connecticut. There are no income restrictions.

JOBS FIRST EMPLOYMENT SERVICES (JFES)

Connecticut’s Jobs First Employment Services (JFES) program helps parents gain the skills needed to obtain meaningful employment and become independent of assistance. The program is administered by the Connecticut Department of Labor (DOL) in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) and the five Workforce Development Boards (WDBs).

The JFES program emphasizes a work first approach. Job search and both unsubsidized and subsidized employment activities are combined with education and training. Every participant is assigned to a case manager who provides one-on-one case management, assistance with  applying for childcare subsidies and transportation needs, as well as referrals to a network of community support providers. STRIVE CONNECTICUT: A WORK READY PROGRAM

A unique training curriculum providing attitudinal job readiness in a simulated work environment.

Case management includes workforce training and job leads, personal accountability, and two years of follow-up support.

STRIVE GROW provides education and workforce services to young adults and youths who are system-impacted, enabling them to achieve higher education and/or certification related to their career goals.

WORKFORCE INNOVATION OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES: AMERICAN JOB CENTERS

AVAILABLE IN NORTHWEST & SOUTHWEST CONNECTICUT

American Job Centers provide a full range of assistance to job seekers under one roof. Established under the United States’ Workforce Investment Act, and reauthorized in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act of 2014, the American Job Centers offer training referrals, career counseling, job listings, and similar employment-related services. Customers can visit an American Job Center in person, connect online to the Center’s information, or access a Center’s resources through remote kiosk.

From the American Job Center’s serving Connecticut’s Northwest region (in Danbury) and Southwest region (in Bridgeport), Career Resources, Inc. provides employment training and case management services.

Program participants work with their Case Manager to develop an Individualized Employment Plan, including skill-building workshops, education and training programs, and other activities geared towards obtaining and maintaining sustainable employment.
