April 4, 2025 State of Reentry Report highlighting need for programs
-
High needs: People recently released from prison in Connecticut often face multiple challenges:
-
Over half have serious substance use issues.
-
Roughly one-third struggle with mental health disorders.
-
Many lack a high school diploma, have unstable housing, and limited job skills
-
-
Many individuals leaving incarceration face a combination of addiction, mental health issues, homelessness, and lack of education.
-
To make lasting improvements and reduce recidivism, the state must invest in coordinated programs to address these needs.
