The Lucy Baney Family Reunification Center

Empowering Returning Women, Reuniting Families

Funded by the Connecticut Department of Correction (CTDOC), the Lucy Baney Family Reunification Center is the home to up to 20 women, aged 18 years or older, returning from incarceration. Five beds are allocated to women and their custodial children under five years of age, representing the only women’s work release program in the state to provide family reunification services.

Residents benefit from an extensive menu of programs designed to assist them in securing and retaining employment. Services include job readiness training through Career Resources’ STRIVE program, educational programs available through the American Job Center Southwest, adult education GED and career navigation classes, job placement services through Career Resources’ Entry Point Staffing program, financial literacy training, and more.

Each resident is assigned a Case Manager who provides supervision, support, and guidance throughout the program. Career Resources utilizes the Women Offender Case Management Model (WOCMM), a gender-responsive and trauma-informed case management tool. Wraparound support services include childcare provided through Career Resources’ partnership with Jacky’s Daycare and mentoring sessions through a new initiative in partnership with the Community Mindfulness Project. Resident stay is between 3-6 months.
